Pro Recco has retained the Italian national cup. After losing last year’s edition in the final to Brescia, this year the reigning national champion went all the way defeating Brescia in the semi-final and got past Savona in the final on Sunday 13-9. Hungarian lefthander Norbert Madaras was important yet again scoring a game-high three goals, assisted by teammate Figlioli who netted three as well, and Matteo Aicardi who scored two goals against his former team. Brescia took the third place beating Posillipo 11-6. Pro Recco had won the ‘Coppa Italia’ from 2006 through 2011 before falling to Brescia last season.
